Argh - 2 days after I read this post, the fire alarm in my building went off (couldn’t be related - I live in Brisbane, Australia) - at 4-fucking-am in the morning! And it lasted for like half an hour!! At this time of the morning, I didn’t really give a shit if the fire fighters were hot - I just wanted them to stop the alarm and leave.

Nothing more frightening than a damn hotel fire alarm going off; that happened to us in Las Vegas Memorial Day. The alarm blasted into the room–freaking our asses out of bed like two spazz-matics! It was so loud I grabbed a pillow and placed it over the bleating alarm. Then a voice from nowhere boomed into the room “This is a false alarm. We repeat: this alarm is not an alert….” Morning wood shot to hell in an instant, too.

Maybe the Fire Department is conducting drills and using your building for practice? Were any of them hot?

I love the old womans comment. Isn’t there a sign right at the elevators that says “In case of fire, use the stairs”? I’ve considered keeping a rope in my place and just being able to climb down…… I think it’s be fun…. LOL!

You know I had a similar thing happen to me in San Fran, but my house actually was on fire. The stupid girls downstairs let the fireplace go crazy and burn up the wall … Anyway the only thing I could think when the 5 firetrucks pulled up and all the hot guys got out was OMG … look at me I’m a mess (it was a lazy Sunday afternoon) so I ran back up the steps to my flat to change into something more presentable while the fireman proceeded to tear apart the first floor wall. LOL. At least you boys handled yourselves better

And you’ve got to love the dulcet wrist slitting tones of those crazy fire alarms - one time, they annoyed me so much that I almost set fire to them.

Last time I had a fire alarm go off, we ripped out the battery. The time before that, I left my dorm and went to get animal crackers at three in the morning. It wasn’t half bad.
